Note: Do not take anything you read below as concrete, it's all rumors and speculations gathered from message boards and websites.

Solstice: Currently Pontiac is building up a business case to produce the Solstice. If it goes into production it could possibly be renamed the Sunfire. It is expected to be a RWD roadster powered by a Ecotech 2.2L engine (rated at 140hp). While the supercharged version of the Solstice is expected to produce 220 horsepower. It is rumored that it is likely that the Solstice will see production.

GTO: It is expected to be unveiled in NAIAS 2003 as a RWD V-8 powered coupe. While it is based off the Holden Monaro, there will be major changes to the appearance of the GTO. This includes functional hood scoops and on-hood tachometer. The GTO will be powered only by the LS1 V-8 and is expected to produce at least 310 horsepower.

Grand Prix: After 2003, the coupe version of the Grand Prix will be dropped. Instead, Pontiac will concentrate on Grand Prix sedan. For starters, the 2004 year model will get a performance boost in the form of a supercharged Grand Prix G-Force will that produce 280 horsepower and 280 torque. The body style will also be changed to be more refined and muscular.

Grand Am: In 2004, the sedan version of the redesigned Grand Am will become available with All-wheel Drive option. The next year, the coupe and the convertible will also get the AWD option.

Bonneville: The Bonneville will be discontinued as there is no replacement planned. But, the Bonneville G/XP may go on sale next year. The G/XP sits 1.5 inches lower then the current Bonneville and produce 270 horsepower.

Firebird: To be discontinued after 2002 Model Year. It may return in a few years, but nothing is certain.

Sunfire: To be discontinued. The Sunfire namebrand may find it way onto the Solstice roadster concept if Pontiac determines that its a better name. See Solstice above.

Overall: Pontiac is starting to take the slogan "Driving Excitement" more seriously. The image as the Performance division of GM can only be strengthen with the Grand Prix G-Force, the new GTO, and possible Solstice going into production in the next few years.

While the news of the GTO's return is exciting, the GTO can't possibly replace the Firebird. The Firebird and the GTO are two completely different cars. The Firebird/Trans-Am is a performance coupe available with v6 or a v8 engine, while the new GTO is a mid-size luxury coupe that is only available with a powerful v8 engine. So, it is still possible that the Firebird can come back as a smaller, lighter performance coupe powered by a choice of affordable v6 engine or the performance v8 engine.
